60 percent of Severodvinsk shipyards’ equipment worn-out

At a conference named “On conditions and measures to improve quality of weaponry and military equipment” in Rostov-na-Donu held from 9th to 10th of January, representatives of the two navy shipyards and in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk region, Sevmash and Zvezdochka, said that as much as 60 percent of their production equipment was worn out.

The two companies also expressed concern about an ageing work staff and young specialists moving out of the region. Low salaries are one of the major problems facing the companies. They also meet growing competition on the world arms market from companies in China, India and Latin America, Dvina-Inform reported.
